A novel approach to supporting amphibian conservation in the Southeast US.

The current U.S. administration has de-prioritized wildlife and habitat conservation, and has backed away from the global discussion on finding solutions to the climate change crises. There are discussions around the status of the U.S. Endangered Species Act, potentially dismantling it, but many species do not have time to wait for these discussions to shift or end. Action is needed now. This is a grim situation at the national level and many organizations—including Atlanta’s Amphibian Foundation (AF)—are hard at work continuing to support much-needed conservation efforts. In 2016, after 20 years in amphibian biology and conservation, I, with my wife Crystal founded the Amphibian Foundation . We have observed the urgency first hand — at the global level and at home. Formal and Casual Learning Opportunities for Adults

Two of or biggest and most popular programs for adults have kicked off in 2019, and we have been having a great time with these opportunities. Our Critters & Cabernet program, which technically started at the Atlanta Science Festival in 2018, relaunched again this March and now continues on the first Friday of every month. C & C is a great way to learn about these fascinating animals in a relaxed environment — with wine! Our informal slogan for Critters & Cabernet is ' Reptiles and alcohol — What could go wrong ?' For April's offering we discussed Frogs , and had a wonderful time exploring and even handling some amazing species of frogs. Next month — Salamanders ! For more information, click here. Our monthly Critters & Cabernet series begins — with Frogs!

Critters & Cabernet — Our popular Atlanta Science Festival program for adults, has begun as a monthly series — on the first Friday of every month! For more information, and to register please see our website: http://amphibianfoundation.org/index.php/educational/college-adult-courses/critters-cabernet Crystal and I gave a brief introduction to the Amphibian Foundation, amphibian biology and frogs  Critters and Cabernet is a small, casual educational program designed to introduce participants to some of the more interesting aspects of amphibian and reptile biology. We encourage guests to ask questions and guide the discussions through the answers.
