#GlassFrogWeek featuring these incredible frogs and the work of Katie Karl

Tomorrow, we are launching the first #GlassFrogWeek to highlight a beautiful and fascinating group of frogs known as the centrolenids. This has been a favorite group of ours for many years and we have had the privilege of working with a few species of Glass Frog over the years as well. Glass Frog illustration by Katie Karl. This shirt is available on Katie's Etsy store , with sales opening for #GlassFrogWeek. A portion of the proceeds will support the Amphibian Foundation. #GlassFrogWeek will also feature the incredible work of Katie Karl , a gifted artist and dedicated conservationist at Blue Iguana Art, who recently created this splendid graphic of the Granulated Glass Frog, Cochranella granulosa , and offered to donate a portion of the proceeds from the sale of the shirt to the Amphibian Foundation. Atlanta Amphibian Conservation Update

In the next week, we are moving to a new level in amphibian conservation. It’s an exciting time for change and growth. We have the most incredible, passionate and talented partners and are looking forward to getting out there and conserving frogs and salamanders. Change also inspires me to reflect on the past bunch of years and some of the awesome species we have worked with -  the opportunities and as well as accomplishments. This is a repost, but it is one of my favorite pictures from ABG. This is a Granular Glass Frog, Cochranella granulosa . This picture was taken with my phone, through the glass of one of the frogs on exhibit. It was directly after the exhibit misting and the frog just looked so perfect. I was lucky that it stayed still and allowed me to get this shot. Glass frogs are transparent on their ventral surface, but their dorsal coloration can be quite beautiful. #Ventral view of a Granular Glass Frog, Cochranella granulosa. Through the #integumen of this transparent frog we can clearly see major organs such as the heart and GI tract. Also visible are a few of the major blood vessels. There are also portions of the skeleton visible such as the #metatarsals as well as #phalanges on both the hands and feet ...
