Recently metamorphosed Carolina Gopher Frog, Lithobates capito | Georgia's rarest frog species. We released the last 63 Gopher Frogs from our collaborative head-start program today. Many of the released frogs immediately left the wetlands and started heading into the uplands. From there they disappeared under leaves and detritus, or jumped down into holes dug by some other critter. They seemed to really know what to do with their first moments of freedom. #Lithobatescapito #Lithobates #gopherfrog #headstart
