Panama's Rabbs' Fringed-limbed Tree Frog, believed to be extinct in the wild, with only one surviving male in captivity in Atlanta Botanical Garden's Amphibian Conservation Program. This frog will be featured in the upcoming documentary #RacingExtinction which premieres on Discovery December 2nd (9PM EST) This handsome guy was connected as an adult over 10 years ago, so we have no idea how old he is (or how long the species lives). In fact, Ecnomiohyla rabborum was described to science as recently as 2008. Though his story is incredibly sad, it highlights the importance of amphibian conservation programs and how we need to pay attention to what the global amphibian declines are telling us. Almost 40% of the world's amphibian species are in catastrophic decline it already extinct. I will try and post more of him in these days leading up to the premiere, but don't like to bother him by taking pictures. I will leave it up to him. #Ecnomiohyla #Ecnomiohylarabborum #FrogsofPanama #frogsofinstagram #frogPOD #AmphibianConservation
