#Ambystoma mabeei, Mabee's Salamander @ Francis Marion National Forest. 14 ponds sampled so far this week and no sign of the Frosted Flatwoods Salamander. A. cingulatum was last detected in the forest by John Palis in 2010. This is a picture of the first Mabee's Salamander I have ever seen. Though it was so exciting to see one of these beautiful #MoleSalamanders the find was slightly overshadowed by not finding any Flatwoods sallys. (in the hand of John Palis)
