Recently metamorphosed Frosted Flatwoods Salamander, Ambystoma cingulatum.

This picture was taken back in May soon after we received young salamanders from our partners at St Mark's Wildlife Refuge. We are building a captive breeding colony for this endangered species with the hopes to release the offspring into managed and protected habitat. Metamorphs are typically drab colored until their adult pattern develops.
